Burton New Zealand Open
The 2009/2010 Swatch TTR World Tour is officially underway with the first major event of the Southern Hemisphere leg will take place next week. The 5Star Burton New Zealand Open kicks off at Cardrona Alpine Resort on Tuesday, August 11th 2009 where riders will be greeted with a 22-foot pipe and a world-class slopestyle course giving competitors two opportunities to lock in a 2009/2010 Swatch TTR Ranking result.
The Burton New Zealand Open has served as the major TTR Tour kick-off event for the past four years and is a perfect opportunity for riders to get a jumpstart heading into the Northern Hemisphere winter. With 850 Swatch TTR Ranking points and a $50,000 USD prize purse up for the taking, riders from around the globe will be looking to secure a piece.
2008/2009 Swatch TTR World Champion, Peetu Piroinen (FIN), recently confirmed his attendance at the event and will be defending his World No. 1 position from the likes of World No. 2 Chas Guldemond (USA), World No. 3 Antti Autti (FIN) and World No. 6 Charles Reid (CAN). The tight-knight Frends crew, all of which are ranked in the Top 30 on the TTR Tour, will also be upping the ante at this year’s New Zealand Open with Danny Davis, Luke Mitrani, Jack Mitrani and Mason Aguirre all slated to make an appearance.
The women’s side of the competition field is stacked with some heavy Swatch TTR Tour competitors including 2008/2009 TTR World Champion and current World No. 1 Kelly Clark (USA) who will definitely be a standout in the 22-foot pipe. Current World No. 3, Jamie Anderson (USA), is back at the New Zealand Open looking to clinch her second-consecutive Slopestyle title. Norwegian rider and current World No. 2, Lisa Wiik, turned some heads last season on the tour and is sure to be a force at the event. European Top 10 TTR riders, Silvia Mittermueller (GER) and Sarka Pancochova (CZE) are all due to be present in New Zealand making for some strong competition.
The Burton New Zealand halfpipe finals will take place on Friday, August 14th and slopestyle finals on Saturday, August 15th 2009. All semi-finals and finals.
After the Burton New Zealand Open wraps up, the Southern Hemisphere leg of the Swatch TTR will continue in Australia with the 4Star Stylewars and the 3Star Boost Mobile Sno Sho. The Tour will return to New Zealand for the 3Star Billabong BroDown before turning to the Northern Hemisphere, which is only a short time away.

World Snowboard Federation
WSF was constituted formally August 10th 2002 in Munich, by delegates from 14 nations - in order to fill the void after the collapse of ISF.
The initiative was taken by Japan and Norway – with support from most of the nations worldwide. It was operational late November 2002 due to workshop- consensus in Vienna.
Background
The organized independent snowboard culture have a history more than 20 years back. The break down of the ISF and PSA Europe left an empty space and a need of creating a new international entity – to take care of the best parts of the old culture .
Goal
We are aiming at stimulating activities that can make the snowboarding grow and develope in the spirit of the original, genuine culture that has been created by the pioneers of snowboarding and the pro-riders – the heroes of the kids.
WSF development
We have been focusing the preparation of future activities, building up a new network of dedicated snowboard-managers and leaders worldwide through national organisations.
We have been coordinating exchange of know-how, support and activities.
Our target-group has been the kids, youngsters rookies in all nations and national activities in general.
In a very short time of operation we have been recognised by almost all nations.
We have been especially involved with new upcoming snowboard-nations/regions and are very happy to see the increasingly strong growth and development in eastern Europe, and Asia.
We also have close relations to- and ranking cooperations with TTR making links from our grassroot-activities to the pro-level.
WSF-FIS
FIS takes care of their World-Cup and Olympics. We aim at caring for the rest – the development and survival of snowboarding – by getting involved with the management of the future generation of riders and make them a part of our culture.
WSF organisation and management
The management is originally located at HQ in Prague, financed by membership-fees. After last general assembly 2006 in Prague, the organization of the WSF was splitted in different head quarter (Norway, Italy, Russia, Czek Repubblic, Japan) according to the task of different working group.
Our organisational activities are taken care by experienced professionals in many countries, with dedication for the sport and an efficient way of working. WSF is a reliable and predictable partner, based on network-activity.
Our working concept is to be catalytic, stimulating and coordinating in order to achieve our goals.
The boardmembers consist of delegates from Japan, Russia, Italy, France, USA and Norway.
WSF future perspectives
We realise that our future work will depend on cooperation with all parties that have the same goals as WSF: growth and development of snowboarding world wide. This include the relation to the Industry, Pro-riders, event-organisers and many more.

South American Snow Sessions VIP Sesh
SASS has been doing the camp thing for a while. We like to think we are the best at it. But there is still a ton that we can't let our under 18 guests partake in. So we set up a whole week devoted to catering to our 18+ guests, or as we are calling them, our VIP's. The week will be filled with sightseeing, the best parties at the hottest South American clubs, and of course the deepest pow in Argentina. Guides are provided on the hill, and we set up the afterparties. It's everything SASS is known for, without the summer camp feel.
The session runs from August 29 until Sept 7.

For freestyle skiers and snowboarders, there is an official indoor FIS funpark (largest indoor funpark of the world).
With the six person chair lift, original Austrian Almhütte on the slope, the winter sports feeling is completed. A comfort ride with the chair lift, takes you to the top of the slope, where you can start the descent. To get warmed up during the skiing, you can enter the Almhütte for a hot chocolate with whipped cream or a glühwein. Here you really get the feeling that you are in the Alps!

От Planet X с голямо удоволствие ви каним да посетите едно от най-популярните събития в разрастващата се измежду днешната младеж фристайл култура.Мероприятието представлява ски и сноуборд състезание на специално изграден скок над пътя към Спортна База Белмекен. Прелитайки над пътя най-добрите скиори и сноубордисти в България, ще изпълняват сложни фриистайл трикове на голяма височина.

The World Quarter Pipe Championships
A Celebration of Transition and FireOver the years, snowmobiles have been stolen from ski patrol, inflatable pools have been ridden on the hill, board bags full of beer have been dragged up the mountain, Ross Power’s Olympic-winning board has been thrown on the fire, hotels have evicted everyone associated with the event, and “contestants” have been pelted with snow and ice as they jump a bonfire on the run-in. It was, and still is, a lawless event run by snowboarders for snowboarders. After a three-year hiatus, the gauntlet fire was re-ignited last March at Tim and Chris Waker’s Timber Ridge for some much-needed celebration of snowboarding.
Once again, 2009 will see the World Quarters back at Timber Ridge, the lawless private resort owned and operated by the Wakers. With the support of the Rome SDS, Red Bull, Oakley, Iceberg and co-founder Pat Bridges, the stage is set for a new rider to be added to the list of legends that have held the title of the best Quarterpipe Rider in the world.
The World Quarters an event that defines the word “open”: any rider, international pro or random kid from Jersey, is free to drop in and compete. There are no VIP tents, no media credentials, no invitation lists and no bag searches to worry about. The mayhem is set to unfold on Monday March 23rd at Timber Ridge. Will Kevin Casillo or Shane Flood make an appearance to try to reclaim their fame of years past? Will the Magic Mountain Motel allow us back as patrons? We’ll see.

Contest Freestyle 21 et 22 février 2009 @ Auron
Il s'agit de présenter au public, amateur de glisse et de sensations fortes, les jeunes Freestyler connus ou non dans leurs stations régionales et à l'extérieur. Durant la compétition sur le snowpark, les participants présenteront des figures étonnantes à proximité des skieurs et snowboarders, ce qui attirera le public et l'impressionnera. Faire connaître l'accessibilité à ces activités sportives, et susciter le désir de les pratiquer en ces lieux, dans un environnement enchanteur, tel est le but de cet évènement : Compétition ludique et rafraîchissante au cœur des pistes de la station d'Auron. L'événement a été choisi comme clôture de la semaine « En glisse vers 2018 », et la station d'Auron mettra a notre disposition des scooters afin d'acheminer les riders en haut du park !!! Et d'autres choses encore !Le déroulement de l'événement :
L'événement se déroulera sur 2 jours, le samedi journée « meeting », les participants découvriront le park, ses modules, et pourront s'entrainer sans pression pour tester l'ensemble du park...et le dimanche les choses sérieuses ;

Oakley Arctic Challenge Update
The riders have arrived and the two first day of practice went down in Linderudkollen today and yesterday.
Now we`re getting ready for Classic Highest Air. We have a line-up consisting of legends and hungry rookies ready to rock Linderudkollen with high airs tomorrow.

Oakley Arctic Challenge
Established in 1999, The Oakley Arctic Challenge was created as an independent alternative to more established snowboarding events.
The Oakley Arctic Challenge is owned by the legendary snowboarder Terje Haakonsen. Having developed and invested in The Oakley Arctic Challenge, Terje fullfils the childhood dream of all snowboarders and paves the way for the upcoming talents and progression of the sport.
The event protects some key values; independence, creativity, progression, borderless, playfulness, social and environmental responsibilities.
The first full on competition was held in 2000 in the North of Norway, since then it has gathered the best snowboarders on the planet to come together for this very special event. It has also seen global TV and media coverage explode (TV distribution to more approx 200 countries), there are over 100 journalists and photographers on site every year and the event gets more than 300 news stories in Norway alone annually . TV-channels as BBC, Nippon TV, MTV, Eurosport, CNN and Fox Sports have visited and/or covered the event.
The Arctic Challenge was ranked as the best snowboard event in the world in Onboard Magazine's reader poll 2004 and got highest score in the TTR World Tour rider survey in 2008 together with German event Air&Style.
Oakley has backed the event since 1999, and have stepped up their commitment by becoming the title sponsor from 2007. In 2008 they entered a 3 year agreement with TAC; backing their plans to expand with more competition formats.
The 2009 event will take place in Linderudkollen, Oslo. Be there!

The Canyons, SLUG MAG, and Celtek Present: BEAT THE PRO!Utah rippers get the chance to see how they stack up against the big dogs!
Trick for trick, ams from around the region will attempt to measure up to top pros and compete for their gear. Sweet satisfaction will be served as local amateurs attempt to stomp out Celtek's pro riders.
Steve Duke, Terrain Park Manager at The Canyons and co-owner of KAB rail-building company, will build a course for all the local amateurs to prove their worth against the pros.
Skier's divisions will compete against Stefan Thomas, Team Athlete of The Canyons Resort.
Women’s Open Snowboarding will compete against Celtek team rider Iris Lazzareschi.
Men’s snowboarding divisions against a Celtek team rider TBA.
All levels of competition are welcome. Divisions include men’s and women’s brackets, which will be subdivided into 17-and-under, and an open skiing and snowboarding categories.

SHOWCASE SHOWDOWN RETURNS @ Whistler Blackcomb
Despite the larger venue and cash prizes on the line, the chill vibe of the backyard throwdown will remain. “This year we wanted to create a super fun snowboard event that was local and grassroots,” says Graham Turner, Showcase Snowboards Buyer. “People can catch all the action from the GLC patio or Skier’s Plaza.”
The top three men and women will feature in Sandbox’s next snowboard film “Shine On,” and $5000 cash and prizes from event sponsors including Nixon headphones are up for grabs.
The Women’s competition will take place from 9am to 11am.
The Men’s competition will start at 11am with Finals starting around 4pm.
Athlete Registration Information Athletes can register in person at any Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations desk. Registration is $50+GST per rider and is open to 60 men and 20 women.
Competitor’s check in will take place on Friday, February 27 at the Village Showcase Snowboards from 5-7pm.

Facing wind, all riders gave their best to get their place to semi-finals.
Cause of this bad weather, slopestyle course was closed and qualifications had to happen in the half-pipe. But the riders really loved it!
Unfortunatly, Freeskiers couldn’t finish their qualifications so the whole CHAMPS Open Freeski competition will take place on Sunday.

The first day of competition on the Swatch O’Neill Big Mountain Pro saw the six skiers steal the spotlight from the snowboarders
Boarding the bus in St Anton am Arlberg at 7am under clear blue skies, the 12 riders were treated to two faces in one day on which to hike and ride untouched powder. “We started the day on Wirth – a small face in the St Anton region,” event director Nicolas Hale Woods said. “It was a good warm-up for all of the riders.”
However it was last year’s winner, Jeremy Jones who wowed all watching with his original and adventurous line down the face, setting the standard for all to follow. “There were up to four features for the riders on the 150m vertical face, so it was great start,”
Nicolas Hale Woods said. The second face, Ameisen Spitze, is where the skiers stole the show. A bigger face with challenging natural features, was enhanced with two kickers built by the world class team of David Reinthaler and Nick Francke. “I’ve been shaping in parks and on events for the past few years so getting back into the mountains and shaping in the backcountry again has been great,” said Nick Francke. “Our aim was to build two nice kickers at the end of the run.
The skiers charged it pretty hard. I think the snowboarders didn’t expect it to be so much like a freestyle kicker, but they all seemed to like it,” said David Reinthaler. Among them was Eric Themel, who despite “flipping over the nose of my board twice because I brought the wrong board for the snow conditions,” was still enthusiastic about the two “perfectly shaped kickers,” as well as the two shapers standing by cheering on the riders; “It’s not often you get that kind of support freeriding on a mountain,” he said.
On that second face, snowboarder, Xavier de le Rue stood out for his fast and fluid line… and the two 360s he pulled out over the two kickers. And amongst the skiers it was Thomas Diet who stole the show. “Today really suited me,” Thomas said. “It was a mix of freeride and freestyle with the two big kickers at the end. I took two cliff drops and then took the two kickers.” Thomas didn’t just take the two kickers, he impressed the crowds watching from the other side of the mountain with a back flip over the first and a double back flip over the second… before and after his two cliff drops. “I’m essentially a freerider,” he said. “But I’ve always loved jumping off things since I was young, so this was perfect.” This is Thomas Diet’s third Big Mountain Pro, and the experience he has gained between each one showed today. “I’m only 24 years old,” he said. “When you look at the good freeriders they have so much experience and really understand the mountain.” “When you see people like Jeremy Jones and Xavier de le Rue they can read details on the mountain from almost a few kilometers away. I really try to learn from these guys and ask them a lot of questions.”
The Swatch O’Neill Big Mountain Pro will stay in the St Anton am Arlberg region tomorrow as it looks towards the face of Brandjoch, just outside of Innsbruck for another challenging and no doubt spectacular day of competition. “I know the face tomorrow,” says local Eric Themel. “It’s a special one to ride because you can see Innsbruck the entire time you are riding down. It’s hard to find another place in the world you can go freeriding while you look over a major city.”

La clásica competición de freeride de esquí, telemark y snowboard se celebrará los días 13, 14 y 15 de febrero y acogerá a los 32 finalistas de esta 12ª edición.

Accederán a la gran final los 16 clasificados de la previa que se disputará los días 24 y 25 de enero en una de las estaciones del Pirineo Catalán.
Los vencedores de la pasada edición tienen el pase directo a la final,.
La organización invitará a 8 rider’s internacionales.
Máxima participación
Para participar en El Dorado es necesario disponer de un excelente currículo deportivo revisado por la organización. Es indispensable poseer de una gran experiencia en alta montaña además de una buena técnica. Tener licencia federativa vigente y cubierto el rescate en alta montaña, así como disponer de detector de búsqueda en caso de avalancha (ARVA), sonda, pala de nieve y sus diferentes sistemas para los ascensos, raquetas de nieve o crampones.
11 años de historia y 3.500€ de premios en metalico.
El Dorado Freeride nació en 1998. En los últimos tres años se ha celebrado en VALLNORD.

Todo preparado en La Molina para acoger la Copa del Mundo LG de Snowboard FIS
La Molina continua preparándose para el gran reto que supondrá la organización en 2011 de los Campeonatos del Mundo de Snowboard y, previamente, de nuevas pruebas de la Copa del Mundo de todas las modalidades.

La estación decana de España sigue haciendo historia con una temporada cargada de Copas del Mundo. La Molina se está preparando para la última gran fiesta deportiva de la temporada: la Copa del Mundo LG de snowboard FIS. Se han llevado a cabo ya con gran éxito de participación y organización las Copas del Mundo femenina Audi FIS de esquí alpino el 13 y 14 de diciembre 2008 y las de Discapacitados IPC del 12 al 15 de enero 2009. La celebración de estos eventos acredita La Molina como una estación puntera, con un espíritu deportivo que conjuga a la perfección su vertiente familiar con actividades para todas las edades. Kilómetros de pistas para todos los niveles, buena nieve y servicios de calidad.
La Molina, que forma parte de la unidad de Turisme i Muntanya de Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, inició su carrera deportiva hacia los Mundiales de Snowboard del 2011 en enero de 2008 en acoger dos pruebas de la Copa del Mundo Snowboard FIS. La estación pasó el examen con nota y del 12 al 15 de Marzo del 2009 se prepara para la llegada de tres carreras más y por eso se han construido este verano el superpipe de Alabaus y el trazado de snowboard cross. El 2010 se disputarán pruebas de la Copa del Mundo LG de todas las modalidades y en enero de 2011 se celebrará el Campeonato del Mundo.
No es la primera vez que La Molina acoge una competición de alto nivel, pero ésta sí va a ser la primera ocasión que la Copa del Mundo LG de halfpipe y snowboard cross aterriza en los Pirineos.
Instalaciones únicas en España
Las zonas de competición están divididas en dos grandes áreas: Snowpark Alabaus para las competiciones de halfpipe, snowboard cross y big air; y el estadio Supermolina para las de paralelo gigante y paralelo slalom.
- El Snowpark Alabaus es de nueva creación y alberga el superpipe que tiene unas medidas de 170 m de longitud, 5,2 m de altura y 24 m de amplitud en la zona exterior y 14 m en la zona interior. Su inclinación es de 17 grados y la zona final se encuentra al lado de la base del telesilla desembragable de seis plazas Alabaus y del parking.
- El trazado de snowboard cross tiene su llegada en la misma zona que el halfpipe pero la salida se encuentra en la zona alta de la pista Alabaus. Tiene un desnivel de 120 m y una longitud de 700.
- El estadi Supermolina es una pista de reconocido prestigio que ya ha sido la sede de las seis Copas de Europa de esquí alpino y dos Copas del Mundo de Snowboard. Además, en diciembre de 2008 están previstas dos carreras de Copa del Mundo de esquí alpino. Es accesible a través del telesilla de cuatro plazas Cap de Comella.

El paralelo gigante dispone de un desnivel de hasta 160 metros siendo la longitud máxima de 600 metros y la inclinación entre los 15 y 25 grados.
- El paralelo slalom cuenta hasta 100 metros de desnivel y una longitud máxima de 390 metros. La inclinación es la misma que en gigante.
- La pista de entreno durante las competiciones es Roc Blanc, trazado paralelo a la zona alta del estadio Supermolina y fácilmente accesible.
- El acceso del público a las zonas de carrera es muy fácil. El Snowpark Alabaus se encuentra al lado del parking del mismo nombre en el Pla d’Anyella. Se puede llegar al halfpipe y a la zona de baja del snowboard cross fácilmente caminando.
- Respecto a la zona de Estadi Supermolina, los mejores puntos para ver la carrera con el snowboard calzado son la zona de salida, la curva entre las pistas Comella y Estadi, el final de la pista Estadi y, evidentemente, la zona de meta. Si se va esquiando se puede aparcar en el parking Telecabina y subir con el telesilla Cap de Comella o también recomendamos como alternativa aparcar en el parking Roc Blanc (P5) y acceder con el telesilla Roc Blanc o aparcar en el parking Alabaus (P6) y acceder a la competición por el telesilla Alabaus.
- Si se quiere ver la carrera desde la zona de meta, para acceder a la zona baja del estadio Supermolina se recomienda utilizar el parking Telecabina (P1). Se puede acceder a pie hasta la pista desde este parking por la carretera de acceso a Font Canaleta (P2) hasta llegar al Village de meta.
Estación pionera
- La Molina, con su cota máxima a 2.445 m y la mínima a 1.700 m, es la estación española con más solera ya que fue la primera en instalar un remonte mecánico en el año 1943. Sin embargo la historia del esquí en La Molina se empezó a escribir varias décadas antes gracias al ferrocarril que permitió descubrir los deportes de invierno a muchos catalanes.
- El centro invernal, que tiene una clara vocación deportiva, cuenta con 60 Km. de pistas dos halfpipes y dos snowparks. Gran cantidad de esquiadores y snowboarders locales han formado parte del equipo español y hay una larga lista de campeonatos de España y exitosas Copas de Europa que se han disputado en sus pistas.
Organización del evento
- La Molina dispone de un rodado comité organizador con experiencia en Copas de Europa FIS de esquí alpino, Copas de Europa de discapacitados y Copas del Mundo de snowboard.
- Todos estos eventos han sido organizados con éxito gracias a la intensa colaboración entre El Consejo Superior de Deportes, el Consell Català de l’Esport, la Real Federación Española Deportes de Invierno, la Federació Catalana d'Esports d'Hivern, la estación de esquí de La Molina, el ayuntamiento de Alp además de un nutrido grupo de voluntarios.
Completos servicios
- La estación cuenta con 16 remontes con una capacidad de 25.500 esquiadores hora. De los 60 Km. de pistas existentes, dispuestas en 52 pistas, 27 Km. están innivados por una red de 440 cañones.
- La Molina dispone de tres estadios de competición y dos snowparks y esta temporada estrena el primer superpipe de los Pirineos.
- En cuanto a la oferta hotelera, La Molina dispones de 18 alojamientos de todos los niveles que suman más de 2.000 plazas. El cercano valle de la Cerdanya completa esta oferta con una capacidad hotelera de más de 8.000 plazas.
- Los hoteles reservados a los atletas se encuentran a pie de pistas y disponen de todos los servicios requeridos para snowboarders de alto nivel. La estación ha renovado para esta temporada su gimnasio de cara a su uso por parte de los equipos. Además, cabe destacar la amplia oferta gastronómica del valle que seguro hará las delicias de visitantes y atletas.
- Todo está preparado para acoger a la gran familia del snowboard en La Molina y arroparles con la ilusión y el buen hacer de una estación y de una comarca que se han volcado en un evento que marcará un antes y un después de la historia del snowboard en los Pirineos.

FIS Snowboard Worlds underway in Korea
It has been a great 2009 FIS Snowboard World Championships in Gangwon (KOR) for Austria and Switzerland so far. After six of the nine medal events have been concluded, Austria has collected three gold medals and two silver medals while Switzerland has secured one gold, one silver and two bronze medals, all by its ladies team, fulfilling even the greatest expectations after a mediocre beginning to the season on the World Cup circuit.
The first champions to be crowned - in SBX - were Helene Olafsen (NOR) and Markus Schairer (AUT). The 18-year-old young star Olafsen, bronze medalist in 2007, celebrated start-to-finish triumph in the ladies final ahead of Switzerland's Olivia Nobs and Mellie Francon. On the men's side, 2007 world champion Xavier Delerue (FRA) was leading the pack of four riders all the way down until making a mistake on the last jump when Schairer took advantage and edged him into second spot in a dramatic finish-line push by just one centimeter which could only be determined by a photo finish. Nick Baumgartner (USA) rounded out the podium.
In the first parallel race, the parallel giant slalom, it was Marion Kreiner (AUT) who successfully competed against her teammate Doris Guenther taking her first ever title after winning silver two years ago. In the battle for third, Patrizia Kummer (SUI) surprised by grabbing the bronze.
On the men's side, it was time again for the 2003 double world champion, Jasey Jay Anderson. After Sylvain Dufour (FRA), Matthew Morison took another medal for Canada finishing
third.
In parallel slalom, the titles went to Fraenzi Maegert-Kohli (SUI) and Benjamin Karl (AUT). Doris Guenther (AUT) claimed already her second silver. Ekaterina Tudegesheva (RUS), the 2007 PGS world champion, completed the podium. In an impressive comeback from a six-week injury, Karl took his first FIS World Championship title by beating Dufour, another two-time silver medalist, in the final. Patrick Bussler secured Germany's first medal by taking the bronze.

BARCELONA EXTREME SPORTS FESTIVAL
Barcelona celebrará los días 11 y 12 de octubre en el Parc del Fòrum un gran evento de deportes extremos de formato inédito en España. BARCELONA EXTREME SPORTS FESTIVAL reunirá en el mismo recinto competiciones internacionales de Skateboard, BMX, Inline, FMX, Wakeboard, Ski y Snowboard.
El evento contará con la participación de destacados riders nacionales e internacionales, así como competición amateur, exhibiciones, clinics, música y muestras de cultura urbana.
Los principales riders nacionales e internacionales de Skateboard, Bike Freestyle (BMX), Inline, Motocross Freestyle (FMX), Wakeboard, Ski y Snowboard (estas dos en modalidad de jibbing) se citarán en el Parc del Fòrum en un evento que combinará competición profesional al más alto nivel con pruebas amateurs y clinics. La cita, impulsada por el Ajuntament de Barcelona y el Institut Barcelona Esports, nace con el propósito de erigirse en uno de los principales referentes del deporte urbano.
El fin de semana del 11 y 12 de octubre, los deportes extremos tomarán la ciudad de Barcelona que, de nuevo, se coloca a la vanguardia y reitera su firme apuesta por el deporte. Además de la amplia oferta deportiva, Barcelona Extreme Sports Festival ofrecerá un conjunto de actividades complementarias como sesiones de DJ’s, arte urbano, zona comercial, etc.

Todo ello conviviendo en un espacio, el Parc del Fòrum, que para su primer gran acto deportivo diurno albergará toda una serie de instalaciones para la práctica de estas competiciones. Un total de 200 riders profesionales y 500 amateurs participarán en los distintos cuadros de competición.
Barcelona Extreme Sports Festival es una nueva competición internacional con diseño y marca propia que nace de la inquietud de una ciudad que tiene en el deporte y sus grandes acontecimientos una seña de identidad y que a su vez apuesta por los deportes de nuevas tendencias.
DIEZ COMPETICIONES INTERNACIONALES
Un total de diez pruebas en categoría profesional y de ámbito internacional garantizan un espectáculo deportivo de primer orden. En este sentido, las infraestructuras que albergarán estas pruebas serán de alto nivel. Once áreas diferenciadas, entre las que destacan dos Streetparks de 1.200 y 800 m2, half pipe, flatland, zona de saltos FMX, rampas y barandillas para las pruebas de ski y snowboard y un espacio con rampas y raíles para las pruebas de wakeboard en la bocana del Fòrum. Asimismo, los asistentes tendrán la oportunidad de practicar algunas de estas modalidades en instalaciones específicas.

Andy Finch fliegt allen davon
Beim Final in der Superpipe am O’Neill Evolution in Davos dominierte der Amerikaner Andy Finch mit sehr hohen, technischen und stilvollen Runs. Sein Sieg brachte ihm 15 000 USD und 1000 Punkte für das TTR World Tour Ranking ein. Gian Simmen feierte ein gelungenes Comeback nach seiner achtmonatigen Verletzungspause und klassierte sich als bester Schweizer auf Rang 9. Podlatchikov und Keller folgten ihm auf den Rängen 10 und 12. Die Entscheidung in der 10 Meter hohen Quarterpipe fällt am Samstagabend.
Freitagabend, 21 Uhr. Eine perfekt geshapte, 135 Meter lange und sechs Meter hohe Superpipe steht unter Flutlicht und im Fokus der in Scharen gekommenen Zuschauer. Im Final der Disziplin Superpipe am Bolgen Jakobshorn in Davos starteten die besten 12 Fahrer des O’Neill Evolution. Darunter waren auch drei Schweizer: Markus Keller, Gian Simmen und Iouri Podlatchikov.
Alle Fahrer nutzten die Zeit für vier Runs, der beste wurde gewertet. Punktemaximum war 300 Punkte. (3 Punkterichter und 0-100 Punkte). Total werden 100 000 US Dollar Preisgeld ausbezahlt. Der Superpipe-Sieger Andy Finch erhält davon 15 000.
Andy Finch war nicht zu schlagen
Andy Finch (USA) zeigte erneut, dass ihm die Superpipe in Davos behagt, zelebrierte Snowboardsport vom Feinsten und riss das Publikum mit. Sein bester Lauf/Run brachte ihm 270 Punkte ein. Dabei zeigte er sehr hohe Frontside Airs, Backside Rodeo 540, Frontside 1080, Mc Twist und einen Alley Oop. Damit erhielt er auch den Siegercheck über 15 000 US Dollar und 1000 Punkte für das TTR World Tour Ranking. Zufrieden gab der Amerikaner zu Protokoll: «Ich bin in erster Linie auf Höhe gegangen, das ist meine Stärke. Ich war ziemlich genervt, dass ich den Highest Air Contest am Nachmittag nicht gewonnen hatte. Ich habe mich sehr wohl in der Pipe gefühlt und es ist immer etwas besonderes hier in Davos zu sein. Die Zuschauer sind klasse, das Contestformat gut und natürlich ist die Pipe immer perfekt.»
Der zweite Risto Mattila (FIN) kam auf 244 Punkte mit Backside Air, Frontside 1080, Cab 720, Frontside 900 und Mc Twist. Der drittplatzierte O’Neill Rider Janne Korpi (FIN) erhielt 240 Punkte mit Backside 540, Frontside 1080, Cab 720, Air to fakie und Cab 900.
Gelungenes Comeback von Gian Simmen
Altmeister und Showman Gian Simmen feierte sein Comeback und brachte als einziger Schweizer komplette Runs runter. Und diese waren Klasse. Er beeindruckte nach seiner achtmonatigen Verletzungspause Publikum und Punkterichter mit hohen Sprüngen. Da er ausser 540er und Haakenfilp aber keine weiteren technischen Tricks zeigte, landete er auf Rang 9. Iouri Podlatchikov nahm sich viel vor und zelebrierte hohe und stylishe Frontside 1080 to Cab 1080-Kombinationen. Doch bei allen Runs stürzte er am Schluss, was ihm nur den zehnten Rang einbrachte und ihn zurecht extrem nervte. Ohne Sturz hätte er es unter die top Drei geschafft. Auch der von einer Grippe geplagte Markus Keller riskierte viel und zeigte sehr hohe und technische Tricks, stürzte aber ebenfalls bei allen Runs und landete auf Rang zwölf
Die weiteren Schweizer Terry Brunner, Sergio Berger, Nicolas Müller, Daniel Friberg und Mario Käppeli blieben im Halbfinal hängen.
Der Swatch Highest Air sorgte für Spektakel am Nachmittag
Am Nachmittag fand in der Superpipe der Swatch Highest Air Contest. In der einstündigen Session pushten sich die Rider gegenseitig zu immer höheren Sprüngen. Am Ende war es der O’Neill Rider Stefano Munari aus Italien, der mit 4,8 Metern Höhe gewann und damit das Preisgeld von 3000 US$ einstreichen konnte. Sein Landsmann Manuel Pietropoli erreichte mit 4,7 Meter den zweiten Platz gefolgt vom Finnen Antti Autti, der mit 4,6 Metern Dritter wurde.

LE O’NEILL EVOLUTION REVIENT EN FORCE POUR 2008
Warmond, Hollande, 20 Septembre 2007 – O’Neill Europe est fier d'annoncer le retour du SIX (6) ETOILES O’NEILL EVOLUTION pour la saison 2007/2008 du Swatch Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour. Après le retentissant succès de la première édition du O’Neill Evolution en 2007, l'épreuve est fin prête à faire son grand retour à Davos (Suisse) du 2 au 7 Janvier 2008.Ce rendez vous reste l'une des seules six épreuves TTR Hommes qui peut se prévaloir du maximum d'étoiles, (6), du circuit TTR. Avec des points précieux en jeu pour le classement et un prize money total qui atteint les 100,000 US$, les meilleurs snowboardeurs freestyle au monde convergeront une nouvelle fois vers le Jakobshorn pour assurer le spectacle dans un format Jam session de folie sur le Superpipe et le Quarterpipe. Alors quel rideur sera le mieux placé pour décrocher le chèque de 15,000 US$ du vainqueur ?
Et bien, les rideurs automatiquement invités seront ceux du top 10 au classement Swatch TTR Hommes 2006/07. On retrouvera donc Shaun White et la machine à rotations finlandaise Antti Autti qui est aussi le tenant du titre de ce O'Neill Evolution. Seront également conviés Travis Rice, Kevin Pearce, Danny Davis et Scotty Lago – des rideurs qui se sont particulièrement illustrés lors de la première édition.
Le reste du top 10 fournira également des clients sérieux à l'image des rideurs US Mason Aguirre et du Suisso-Russe Iouri Podladtchikov. Antti Autti, Janne Korpi et Henning Marthinsen ont déjà confirmé leur présence à Davos. Nous serons en mesure très bientôt d'annoncer plus de rideurs du top 10 ayant confirmés leur participation.
Les organisateurs ont également le plaisir d'annoncer la participation de la wildcard et tenant du titre en Quarterpipe Nicolas Mueller. Mueller qui ne manque jamais une occasion de briller devant ses compatriotes devra se battre pour conserver sa couronne face à trois autres wild cards et aux deux leaders du classement Swatch TTR Hommes de la mi décembre.
Avec des qualifications ouvertes à 120 rideurs, cette épreuve attirera également toute la jeune génération du snowboard qui, sans nul doute, tentera tout pour pouvoir se mesurer et battre les meilleurs mondiaux.
Et après les hauteurs incroyables atteintes par des rideurs comme la légende du snowboard Terje Haakonsen pendant la première édition du O’Neill Evolution, les Highest Air Sessions seront de nouveaux intégrées à l'épreuve, ce qui permettra au vainqueur des Highest Air sessions en Quarterpipe et en Superpipe de repartir respectivement avec 6,000 US$ et 3,000 US$. Avec une telle réunion de stars, beaucoup de points au classement et de gros chèques à la clé, le O’Neill Evolution 2008 sera une épreuve à ne manquer sous aucun prétexte.

Mostra snowBOart Nivalia 2007 - Fira de Barcelona
El objetivo del certamen es mostrar y fomentar la creatividad en el mundo de la nieve así como promocionar y exponer este deporte a los que surfean en el mundo de las artes. snowBOart presenta en esta edición 10 películas de primicia mundial conjuntamente de una instalación de videoarte audiovisual-sonoro de producción propia, dirigido por el cineasta francés Tierry Saint-Paul junto a el músico HOLEG.
También se podrán ver documentales de nieve y referencias a otros deportes de deslizamiento, así como dos proyecciones fijas de obras varias (foto-comic-animación) de autores participantes en las pasadas ediciones del propio Concurso. La muestra de las obras se podrá ver en la Feria NIVALIA los días 16-17-18 de noviembre (Palacio 2 - Fira de Barcelona) durante todo el día de 11:00h. a 21:00h.

Salón del ocio en la nieve y las actividades de montaña. Fira de Barcelona. Recinto Montjuïc. 16-18 Noviembre 2007. Nivalia 2006 ocupó 10.000 m2. y tuvo 21.000 visitantes interesados en conocer las novedades y tendencias del sector.

snowBOart es una iniciativa que se desarrolla en el ámbito de los deportes de deslizamiento de invierno, las artes ilustrativas, audiovisuales y las nuevas tecnologías de la información.
Creado en Salardú (Val d'Aran) a finales del año 1997 por la ESVA (Escola de Snowboard Val d’Aran) con la promoción de un concurso de dibujo escolar cuyo tema principal era el vínculo entre el surf de nieve y la promoción cultural, con el objetivo de promover este deporte de un modo directo (clases de iniciación al snowboard para los niños participantes) y diferente de como se había realizado hasta entonces. La intención era fomentar el deporte y la creatividad ilustrativa a los niños de primaria y secundaria realizando muchos esfuerzos desinteresados para ofrecer un servicio cultural a la comarca y al mundo de la nieve.
Más allá de los aspectos puramente deportivos, el surf de nieve genera todo un estilo de vida y una estética joven y moderna. Este manifiesto que a principios de los 90 se convierte en una moda, actualmente, es una manera de vivir donde los jóvenes encuentran un punto de comunicación con la nieve.
A finales de los años 90 el concurso se centra en el mundo del cómic y se presenta a nivel nacional como SnowboART-Comic, haciendo exposiciones temporales en el ámbito catalán y hasta editando el primer cómic de surf de nieve de autor.
En la actualidad snowBOart se abre a las nuevas posibilidades de creación de los usuarios del mundo de la nieve en todas sus modalidades: snowboard, esqui, freeski, telemark... integrando las nuevas tecnologías de captura de imágen: foto digital, video, prestaciones de telefónos móbiles... y las posibilidad de publicar, compartir y visualizar sin límites que nos ofrece internet y las TI a través del proyecto snowBOart.TV.
A nivel territorial con las raices bien firmes en la Val d'Aran snowBOart se ha extendido con nuevos miembros y la Mostra Itinerante en Barcelona, Val d'Aran, el Pirineo francés y Andorra.

NOKIA SNOWBOARD FIS WORLD CUP CALENDAR 2007/08
La temporada de BoarderCross se inicia, como venía siendo habitual en temporadas anteriores, en Valle Nevado (Chile) del 25 al 29 de setiembre.
Con un parón increíble de tres meses y medio, la segunda prueba se celebrará en Bad Gastein (Austria) del 11 al 13 de enero del 2008. Esperando que este año las condiciones de nieve sean más favorables que la pasada temporada en que no se pudo disputar la prueba en la estación Austriaca, en ninguna de las dos convocatorias, por falta de nieve.
El 1 de febrero regresará Leysin (Suiza) al calendario de la World Cup organizado por Swiss'Mate y esperando que este año no se tenga que anular de nuevo por falta de nieve.
Asia aumenta su presencia en la Copa del Mundo con dos eventos. Del 15 al 17 de febrero test final para Gangwon (Korea) que será sede de los próximos Campeonatos del Mundo de Snowboard en el 2009. Una semana más tarde (22 a 24) la estación japonesa de Gujo cerrará la gira asiática.
El 1 de Marzo se inicia la gira en América del Norte con la ya clásica prueba de Lake Placid (USA) y tambien repitiendo evento en Stoneham (Canada) entre el 7 y el 9 del mismo mes.
Sin tiempo casi para adaptarrse al cambio de continente el Gran Circo del BoarderCross finaliza en Bormio (Italia) la cuna de los deportes de invierno transalpinos.
En total se disputarán un máximo de 9 pruebas, si ninguna convocatoria falla, sólo en un evento se realizarán dos carreras puntuables, posiblemente en Bad Gastein o Leysin para compensar su yermo esfuerzo de la pasada temporada.
